You will set out early in the morning for western Uganda at the beginning of the six-day Rwenzori Mountain Climbing Safari. The trip is comfortable and includes stops near the equator, a coffee plantation, and the Mpambire drum manufacturers. If you request it, you can pass across Lake Mburo for an additional fee. Continue through Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is situated in the western rift valley at the base of Mountain Rwenzori, after traveling to Mbarara for lunch. Arrive in Kasese and check into the Margherita Hotel or Rwenzori International Hotel, or travel to the Rwenzori Base Camp, where you can prepare your hiking gear for the following morning. After dinner, stay the night.

Enjoy your breakfast and drive to the park headquarters at Nyakalengija in the early morning from the Margherita hotel or take a transfer from Rwenzori Base Camp – Ibanda. Here, you will receive a briefing from the guides, rent equipment, and choose porters. The hike starts at the park’s 1,646-meter headquarters. In around 40 minutes, you can walk past traditional “watt and mud daub” Bakonjo huts and through elephant grasses to reach the park’s boundaries. The trail crosses recent landslide regions as it follows the Mubuku River. After 2 hours, arrive at the Makoma River. The trek up to Nyabitaba Hut, 2,652m, the day’s destination, requires a fairly steep ascent through open bracken fern slopes and podocarpus woodland. It will take 5 to 6 hours to complete. After dinner, stay the night.

Enjoy your morning breakfast and unwind in Nyabitaba Hut before walking to Lake Mahoma. You pass through a bamboo forest on the stroll. As you come across monkeys, the Rwenzori turaco, and other birds, take your time and observe the vegetation. At Nyabitaba Hut, spend the night.

Enjoy your breakfast and by pass by Mobuku – Kichuchu Bridge. You will walk alongside the Mobuku River, a bamboo forest, and the Kamato swamp. The waterfalls (Kabamba), heather vegetation, and Mount Baker scenery all draw people to the Mobuku valley. The 3,261-meter Guy Yeoman Hut may be reached in five hours on average. Enjoy the breathtaking sunset over the Rwenzori Mountains.

Start your journey as early in the day as possible if you want to reach the park headquarters. The route leading from Guy Yeomen is quite risky. Continue your descent until you arrive at the Nyakalengija park administration building, where you can transfer to Rwenzori Base Camp for a warm shower and cozy bed. You can alternatively take a car to Kasese’s Margherita Hotel or Rwenzori International Hotel.

After a tardy breakfast, start your journey toward Kampala, stopping along the way for lunch. If you need to buy mementos, make a quick pit stop at Mpambire Drum Makers or any other crafts display place along the way.
